The Argentine Youth Boys Team that will take part of the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, obtained a 3-0 victory on its first friendly match of the four that will be played in Chile under the slogan "Let's raise Chile" on a welfare program. The team coached by Juan Cichello won 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-20) and this Friday they will play a new match in Concepción.
Chile had a great start but Argentina found its momentum and with spiking and a strong blocking won the first match played in the main field of the CEO in Santiago de Chile.
"It was not a nice match for the sight but it is good for the work of the team we will take to the Youth Olympic Games. We made too many mistakes serving but showed good digging and spiking. Playing more minutes I am sure the level will improve and therefore the series of friendly matches with Chile will be very positive" expressed Cichello.
On the other side, Daniel Nejamkin, the Argentine coach in charge of Chilean Men Teams added: "We did not play a good match. It is always hard when we start the South American Championship or a friendly series after some rest. We had a good start but it lasted very short. When they left doing non forced errors, the match changed and Argentina showed they are a more experience team than ours".
Argentina starting line-up included: Leonardo Plaza Gandini, Damián Villalba, Federico Martina, Mauro Llanos, Nicolás Méndez, Ezequiel Palacios and Tomás Ruiz as libero. Chile, meanwhile put on the field Felipe Orrego, Tomás Parraguirre, Dusan Bonacic, Juan Flores, Iván Castillo, Rodrigo Salinas and Bastián Melgarejo as libero.
Both teams will play the second friendly match this Friday at 8:00 pm in Concepción in a series of matches organized by the Chilean Volleyball Federation to help those affected by the hearthquake that Chile suffered last February.
