THE ARGENTINE SENIOR'S WOMEN TEAM RETURNED TO THE COUNTRY AFTER A POSITIVE BALANCE AT THE FIVB WORLD CUP IN JAPAN

The girls added great international experience in Japan

Buenos Aires, Argentina, November 20, 2011 - This Sunday morning, the Argentine Senior's Women Team returned to the country after their participation at the FIVB World Cup, held in Japan. The team coached by Horacio Bastit returned to the same as South American second runner up after 8 years winning three matches that gave them an improvement of two places at the FIVB World Ranking.

Now, the Argentine Senior's Women Team stands 18th with 42 points overcoming the Netherlands and Puerto Rico in their upgrading. The team over the light blue - white jersey team is Peru (17th), the second ranked South American team and a hard rival on the continent in each competition that involves both teams.

The growth of the senior team goes along with the grass-root categories, where Argentina stands 15th, winning four places in the last upgrade after the World Championship in Turkey.

In the case of the men teams, Argentina's senior team stands 9th (now playing the FIVB World Cup with a great start overcoming today Serbia, the European champion 3-0 in their first match) and the Junior/Youth category stands second, after the Youth World Championship held in Argentina last August.

Since the championship is held in Japan, the Argentine 2011 performance was the best of the competition, finishing 10th overcoming the 11th place of he years 1999 and 2003. The Argentine team defeated Kenia and Algeria, Champion and Second Runner Up from Africa and Dominican Republic (a new victory like at the 2011 Grand Prix).

Another proff of the great balance of Japan were the individual rankings with Ymila Nizetich - that did not play the last three matchs but stood among the best five servers of the competition, while Lucia Gaido also stands among the best diggers.

Even though Brazil did not obtain the qualification for the 2012 Olympic Games through out this Cup (the places were won by Italy - title holder, USA and China), and now it will be harder for Argentina to obtain its ticket, the team won great experience playign against the best teams of the world and goes on with its development.
