ARGENTINA UPGRADED TO THE 8TH FIVB RANKED PLACE AFTER THE 2011 FIVB WORLD CUP THAT JUST ENDED IN JAPAN

Lausanne, Switzerland, December 6, 2011 - With the FIVB World Cup ended, the International Volleyball Federation updated their World Rankings with the Argentine Seniors' Men Team upgrading one place. The light blue - white jersey team coached by Javier Weber overcame Bulgaria that dropped from place 7. The team returned to the country this Tuesday morning.

The seventh place at the FIVB World Cup gave Argentina seven points with a new total of 132,50. With this score it confirmed to be strongly among the best ten places over Bulgaria that did not participate of this competition and China, that did but maintained its 10th place.

The first three places maintain their ranking without any changes, Brazil stands as the best team of the World with exactly 300 points followed by Russia (270) and Italy (226).

Argentina face in Japan the seven teams that stand over it at the updated ranking and played against all at their same level. Only against the best two teams of the world, Brazil and Russia, Argentina lost 3-0 while against Poland (4th) it was 1-3, Italy (3rd) and USA (5th) 2-3 while it defeated Cuba (6th) and Serbia (7th).

The Argentine delegation with the players that participate of the ACLAV Argentine league arrived to the country this morning while those playing foreign leagues returned to their respective competition. Now, the team will have less than a month to prepare themselves for the next very demanding competition, the Olympic Continental Qualification tournament with Brazil already qualified in Japan, which means one step forward for the young Argentine team.
