THE YEAR 2011 SHOWED GREAT ACTIVITY AT ARGENTINE BEACH VOLLEYBALL WITH INTERNATIONAL PARTICIPATION

The South American Tour stop in Rosario

Buenos Aires, Argentina, January 3, 2011 - The 2011 Argentine Beach Volleyball season was full of different competitions all over the country chosen by thousand of fans. Just a quick look at the cities it took place with international, province, grass-root competitions are useful to show the growth of different sites and the love felt by many viewers.

At the men tour, Deán Funes (Córdoba), Mar del Plata, Pinamar, Rosario, General Cabrera, Santa Fe, Buenos Aires and Tunuyán showed great level followed by a great audience.

The girls played their national stops in Nogoyá, Basavilbaso and Cerrito and one Satellite stop in Concordia. The development of the Women competition, always mainly in Entre Ríos province allowed that the Argentine teams of Gallay-Zonta and Forguez-Albano to keep alive the chances of qualifying for the first time in the history for the Olympic Games.

It is not casual therefore, that Ana Gallay-Virginia Zonta won the Silver Medal at the 2nd. South American Beach Volleyball Games that took place in Manta, Ecuador.

For the first time, the Argentine Volleyball Federation organized stops for the beach volleyball grass-root teams, with the U 17 Tour that saw the future talented players compete in Rosario, Mar del Plata, Concordia, Santa Fe and La Plata (also with one U 19 Women Stop) closing with a great party in San Pedro, Also, FeVA through out its Beach Volleyball Secretariat, obtained that the Buenos Aires Province Games (the most important national competition) included beach volleyball as part of the competition.

As part of the development of beach volleyball in the country, for the first time in history an U 21 Argentine team participated at the World Championship in Croatia, where they finished among the best 16 teams in what meant a great international sport experience for Lisandro Rouzic-Mateo Iwanowski.

Talking about international competition, FeVA together with the city supporters, vitals at the development, carried out South American Tour stops in the cities of Rosario and Mendoza, next to the Flag Monument and Parque San Martín respectively.

All added to the stop of Mar del Plata in October 20120, when the first Continental Cup stop took place with countries qualifying for the Olympic Games. Argentina played both genders against Chile and Peru. At the National level Argentina has great chances to qualify its women teams for London 2012.

The Bronze Medal won by Etchegaray -Suárez

The season nearly closed with an outstanding Bronze Medal at the Pan-Americna Games in Guadalajara for the best Argentine men team, Pablo Suárez-Santiago Etchegaray.

All Beach Volleyball was included by the broadcasting of the national television channel that showed the country what was going on in different parts of the country.
