Great summer day for the Qualy of the first stop in Mar del Plata

Buenos Aires, Argentina, January 14, 2012 - More than one hundred players (to be exact 106) participate of the first stop of the Argentine Beach Volleyball Tour, organized by the Argentine Volleyball Federation (FeVA) at Resort 8 in Playa Grande, Mar del Plata, as site of this event. This Friday, 37 teams fought for the eight vacant places at the Main Draw that will start this Saturday very early. The teams that qualified are: Siri-Siri, Fernández-Olmedo, Iwanowski-Rouzic, Funes-De Elorza, Rabatín-Posodente, Alonso-Blanco, Barrionuevo-López, Carrocera-Pasqualini

FeVA President and responsible person of Argentine beach volleyball, Mr. Juan Antonio Gutiérrez pointed out the growth of the competition expressing that "with this quantity of players the result of many years of hard work is becoming real. We obtained the Bronze Medal at the Pan-American Sport Games in Guadalajara, Mexico 2011; now we have the chance of qualifying a women team for the 2012 London Olympic Games and each stop all over the country, if it is Mar del Plata, Mendoza or Entre Ríos gathers more interested people in learning and improving their beach volleyball performance, no doubt, a goal fulfilled".

The Mar del Plata born Pablo Suárez-Santiago Etchegaray (Guadalajara Bronze Medal winners) are at this point, the leaders of the Argentine beach volleyball ranking and they have been part of the Argentine Tour for the last years being an example for the growth that today can be seen. Among the Qualy teams there were players with experience as Ariel Olmedo (from Santa Fe), the brothers Siri (Buenos Aires) and Alan Mehamed (Mar del Plata) with some very talented new players like Facundo Funes, Kevin Altamirano and Santiago Aulisi, among others.

A nice day, with about 23 degrees was perfect for a sport competition. Gutiérrez also mentioned that to chose Mar del Plata for the start of the season was very important in the summer calendar. "We did not make a mistake when we decided to change the organization as we saw that Mar del Plata deserved to have such an important beach volleyball event and the fact that we have over 100 players competing shows that we were right".

This Saturday at 8.30 starts the Main Draw with the best 16 teams of the country.
