Bovolenta died on the playing field this Saturday

Buenos Aires, Argentina, March 26, 2012 - The Argentine Volleyball Federation is very sorrow to advise that Bobolenta, a great and young Italian player, with several world titles, passed away this Saturday on the field of play. Italian middle blocker Vigor Bovolenta, 37, silver medallist at Atlanta 1996, winner of four editions of the FIVB World League (1994, 1995, 1997 and 1999) and the 1991 edition of the FIVB Men's Club World Championship, passed away on Saturday when he fainted just after having served in the third set of the match Macerata - Forlì in Serie B2, the fourth league in the Volleyball Italian structure.

Despite medical assistance, he passed away in Macerata hospital a few minutes after midnight (local time). Vigor Bovolenta, who was nicknamed “Bovo”, leaves his wife Federica Lisi (a former setter of the national team) and four children.

He left last year the well known Serie A1 League in Italy, deciding to spend his last years as a player in Forlì, not far from Ravenna where he lived, helping the team of Forlì not only on the court but even with a role in marketing. His last appearance in the “Azzurri” jersey was in Beijing 2008.
