SANTA FE & METROPOLITAN, NEW U 16 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

Santa Fe won again the U 16 Championship

Mendoza, June 29, 2012 - After two year, Santa Fe recover the U 16 Girls National Championship crown. The event, organized very successful by the Mendoza Volleyball Federation was won by Santa Fe defeating Cordoba (last years's champion) 3-1 obtaining the title as in the year 2010. The top player of the competition was Elina Rodríguez from Santa Fe. Metropolitan won the Bronze Medal over Chaco.

The final date was dedicated to all final matches, with all finishing quick with the only 3-1 of Neuquén over Formosa with Buenos Aires Province finishing on the top of the Consolation round in the ninth place over Río Negro.

Jujuy played five sets to overcome the host team of Mendoza finishing on the seventh place while in Mitre, too, Entre Rios also played a tie-breaker to finish on the fifth place over San Juan.

The Bronze Medal was for the Metropolitan that defeated Chaco 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-18).

The final match started with Cordoba leading but coming from behind Santa Fe gained confidence to win the Gold Medal 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-15, 25-20).

At the closing ceremony there was a special moment when the International Referee, Luis Zalazar was mentioned (he died nearly a year ago). Mendoza Sport Secretary, Marcelo Locamus was present showing the support that the province authorities give to Volleyball activities.

Metro won without losing a single match

San Juan, Argentina, June 29, 2012 - The Metropolitan Federation Team overcame Mendoza 3-0 to become the new U 16 Boys National Championship. felipe Benavídez was the top player of the tournament. The host team of San Juan won the Bronze Medal.

At about 11 noon started the semi-final match and at the San Juan Volleyball Federation with Buenos Aires province team winning the first two sets over Mendoza. Even they lead on the third set showing outstanding output but San Juan coming from behind and giving their utmost won 25-22 to finish in a terrific tie-breaker definition with Mendoza winning the fifth set. At the Cantoni Stadium there was a duel between to undefeated teams. Metropolitan and the host team faced each other with the visiting team eliminating from the final match last year's champion 3-1.

Cordoba defeated Formosa and Entre Ríos did the same with Santa Fe 3-1 and 3-2 respectively to win the fight for the fifth place afterwards, won by Cordoba in a tie-breaker. La Pama y San Luis played for the ninth place while Chaco and Jujuy played for the eleveth place and Tucumán and Río Negro for the thirteenth.

At about 17.00 at Cantoni Stadium the final showed to very equal teams with Metropolitan overcoming Mendoza in a very exciting match.
