The sand and the project are ready to welcome the beach volleyball project in San Juan

San Juan, Argentina, July 5, 2012 - At the opening of the new sport facilities done by San Juan Volleyball Federation and the start of the U 16 Boys' National Championship, the Argentine Volleyball Federation President, Juan Antonio Gutiérrez announced the new local project for beach volleyball meaning a very important step taken by the province that already has a long indoor volleyball history.

As part of the FSV new Stadium facilities, stands a project headed by Alejandro Barrionuevo, former Argentine Seniors' National Men Team to build two beach Volleyball fields to train and organize different regional and national competitions. "The idea was always as we have the chance of developing talented players broadcasting this activity. San Juan has an important number of players we can include at beach volleyball to feed their development" expressed Barrionuevo.

FeVA President visited the facilities together with Barrionuevo and prized the importance of the place: "It would be very important to add this province to our beach volleyball country project. Long ago here National stops took place so if we can joint it with Mendoza, where one of the Beach Volleyball Development Centre will work, then we will sustain the growth and sure we will find several new talented players".

Gutierrez visiting the place gave some advice together with FSV President, Jaime Berge. If on the long run this becomes real, the idea of the National Beach Volleyball Secretariat is to organize stops of the Winter Argentine Beach Volleyball Tour here. "With the mild San Juan and Mendoza weather, added to San Luis, we can plan giving beach volleyball competitions all year round on our project of improvement and growth" he added.

Argentina participated in all Olympic Beach Volleyball competitions since 1996. For London 2012 it will be the first time that two Argentine women beach volleyball teams will represent us but the country is working towards the project Rio de Janeiro 2012, working with several young talented both gender's players to join the national teams that will try to grow at international level.
