Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, July 10, 2012 - The right path goes on for the Argentine team - combining 3 Seniors' and Juniors' at the Seniors' Men Pan-American Cup that is taking place in the city of Santo Domingo. This Tuesday, in the second date of the first round, the light blue - white jersey team obtained its second victory over Trinidad & Tobago 3-1 (25-10, 25-18, 24-26, 25-11) with a record of win-loss 2-0 and if they defeat the host team tomorrow, Wednesday they will qualify directly for Semi-Finals.

Argentina most important players in this match were Mariano Giustiniano (again the top scorer with 16 points) well sparred by Gonzalo Quiroga wiwth 15 and Gonzalo Lapera with 12. The best player for the Caribean team was Honore with 12 points.

Argentina showed an outstanding performance with nearly no mistakes while Trinidad & Tobago with a record of win-loss 0-2 had its momentum in the third set, winning the first set of the competition but not enough to force a tie-breaker definition.

Fabian Muraco, leader of Argentina, expressed his disappointment over the loss of the third quarter despite the victory.

"If yesterday the Dominicans showed maturity to prevent the same from the opponents, my players showed their youth today,” he said. “We can’t have that luxury tomorrow because we play the home side and if we don’t play at one hundred percent we put on risk the chances of success.”

Gideon Dickson, the coach of Trinidad & Tobago since 2004, noted that “the Argentineans played with a capacity that goes beyond their ages. We learned from the way they played and I hope my team can improve I the remainder of the tournament.”

Nolan Tash, the captain of Trinidad, congratulated Argentina “for their team work and especially their captain Mariano Giustiniano, for prominently assuming his leadership, while we failed to discipline our tactics.”

The winners of both Pools (Pool B sees Brazil, USA, Venezuela and Mexico) will qualify directly for Semi-Finals while the second and third ranked teams will play for the other Semi-Final places. Therefore, a new victory for Argentina would give them the first place and the semi-final berth.
