LONDON 2012: GALLAY-ZONTA SAID GOOD BYE TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES

Great experience for Zonta-Gallay in London

London, Great Britain, August 2, 2012 - At London Thursday morning Ana Gallay and Virginia Zonta finished their participation at the London Olympic Games 2012. The Argentine pair, that represented Argentina for the first time at the Olympic Games in Women's Beach Volleyball, were defeated by the Netherland team of Sanne Keizer-Marleen Van Iersel 0-2 (12-21, 16-21) in the final match of the preliminary round in Pool D at Horse Guards Parada impressive venue built for all beach volleyball matches in the heart of London.

Even though they were eliminated, playing with teams that already had over 50 international matches at different SWATCH-FIVB World Tour stops, the light blue - white team with only three showed a very good level that will help them grow in the near future.

An equal match for the third place in the Pool (both had lost their first two matches with Argentina losing each 0-2 while the Europeans had two tie-breakers loss), the Netherland team with two titles at the FIVB Tour, showed more experience to take the lead in both sets.

The final balance showed a very level Argentine pair (with the first set v Spain being the best one) that found great momentums and lived the Olympic Games after a great Continental Cup qualification in their fourth international competition together.

Van Iersel-Keizer finished third and will play the losers round to qualify for the First Final Round while Kessy-Ross (USA) and Baquerizo-Fernández (SPA) lead the first two standings and are already in the first round with single elimination from now on.
