BAU defeated Brazil and will face Bolívar in semi-finals

Mar del Plata, Argentina, September 21, 2012 - Buenos Aires Unidos won as host team the final match of the preliminary round facing Súper Imperatriz Volei Floripa (Brazil) 3-1 standing as leader of Pool A at the Volleyball World Challenge Cup, where it will face this Friday the second ranked team of Pool B, Personal Bolívar, that was defeated by Toray Arrows (Japan) also 1-3. The match will take place at 21.30 at Once Unidos Stadium in the resort city of Mar del Plata.

The team coached by Waldo Kantor showed its best level to win 3-1 (27-25, 25-14, 19-25, 25-23). The top scorer of the match was the French, Guillaume Samica scoring 19 points. The opposite player Marcos Milinkovic scored 15 while for the visiting team Dirceu also scored 15.

A big audience watch the matches with the surprise of the defeat of Personal Bolivar in the first match knowing that the winner of the match Argentina v Brazilian would face the team coached by Weber on the semi-final match.

On the fifth edition of this competition first Toray Arrows (Japan) will face Súper Imperatriz (Brazil) at 18.15. No doubt, the match of the tournament will be played between both Argentine teams, Buenos Aires Unidos (host) v. Personal Bolívar. There is no way that both Argentine teams reach this last match as they will decide their faith this Friday at the semi-final crash.


In the first match of Thursday the Japanese team showed its utmost surprisingly defeating Personal Bolívar 3-1 (25-18, 25-17, 17-25, 29-27). usuke Imada was the best scorer of the match with 18 points followed by the Serbian Dejan Bojovic with 14. For Personal Bolívar Rodrigo Ronda, substitute player on the second set and thereafter starting line-up player scored also 18 points.
