VELEZ GIRLS RECOVER THE U 14 ARGENTINE CUP CROWN

Chapadmalal, Argentina, October 11, 2012 - The last Girls Team that won the 2012 Argentine Cup has a known name: Velez Sarsfield. This Wednesday, on the last day of the U 14 Argentine Cup held in the resort city of Chapadmalal, where on the last two previous weeks took place the U 18 and U 16 Cups, was won by a team that not only recoved the Cup won in the year 2010 but obtaining the second cup of this season, after the U 18 won two weeks ago. The final match ended 33-1 over Villa Dora. 9 de Julio Freyre won the bronze medal.

As it could not be with another final date, the last Argentine Cup showed excitement and lots of very intensive matches. From very early onwards, semi-finals took place for the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Cooper Cups where hundred of grass-root athletes having their first time chance to celebrate a tittle. Velez won its last match by a clear 3-0 and a great harvest for this 2012 season - two titles out of three competitions.

Then, Villa Dora overcame Italiana de Charata, in a duel of two teams that never reached a final match in the Cup overcoming the Santa Fe team by a 3-1 result.

Very levellled matches showed the Cooper Final won by Tunuyan over Sonder in a tie-break definition while the Bronze was for Cuyo's UPCN team that overcame Barraca from Santa Fe while the Silver Cup was obtained by San Jose, coming from behind to defeated Glorias after the last had a five point difference at the tie-break set.

At the same time with the Gold Cup, Freyre overcame Characa 3-0 to win the Bronze Medal quite easily.

The Champion team: Ailén Escobar, Lara Giordano, Sofía Psara, Martina Alexandre, Ludmila Vinco, Lucía Zabala, Agostina Soria, Florencia Chimeno, Luciana González, Belén Caba, Florencia Grimoldi, Julieta Confessore. Coach: Agostina Borgialli. Delegation Chief: Alcides Márquez.
