KARINA RENE, INTERNATIONAL REFEREE AT HIS FIRST CONTINENTAL FINAL

Karina René in Peru

Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 30, 2012 - A new fact where the Argentine Volleyball Federation (FeVA) can show all its pride for the National Volleyball growth. This time through out the international referee, Karina Rene that headed the referee team at her first final match in the South American Championship held in Peru in the match between Brazil and the host team of Peru.

After such experience she remembers very deeply such great responsibility, to be named as first referee at the final match of a Continental competition.

Se became internation just a few months ago when she took the CDRV Course in the year 2010 and reconfirmed in the year 2011. Rene already has a long path as international referee since then at continental matches, present at the Juniors' Women South American Championship 2010 in Medellin; at the Seniors' Women South aerican Championship 2011 in Lima and recently at the Juniors' Women also in Lima, where she reached the chance of refereeing the final match as first referee. Also around the world, she was substitute referee at the 2011 and 2012 FIVB World League (Catamarca, Formosa and Almirante Brown) participating also as referee at international friendly matches.

When she makes a balance of the new experience, she already has new international duties, the Youth's Boys South American Championship next week in Santiago de Chile.

- What does it mean in your referee career the final match in Lima?
-Until now it is the most important work in my referee career. It was my first final international match and I am very happy, satisfied and thankful for this chance. At that moment I thought on representing my country the best possible way, to show my dedication and knowledge.

- How do you feel your performance was?
- I believe my performance was good along the championship, and that can be seen in the evaluation given to my by the referee supervisor along the tournament, Guillermo Paredes (also Argentinian). Each match was a new challenge and I took each one as a final match when refereeing.

- Who were your best teachers in Argentina?
-I had several great teachers, on one side all my referee partners and friends at the Metropolitan Volleyball Federation; the international referees, José Luis Barrios, Hernán Casamiquela and Ricardo Cabrera, from the three I learnt a lot and still go on learning listening to their advises and watching what they do when they work.

On the other side, Juan Ángel Pereyra, with whom I shared as line judge the work at the 2002 World Championship and the 2001 American Cup (was the teacher at the International Course together with Josebel Palmerin). Guillermo Paredes is one of the greatest international referees to learn from and he taught me from the start when I just was a line judge at international events.

I do not want to forget mentioning Fabián Ramón, who gave me the first chance to stand as international referee in the year 2001 and then become line judge at international competitions as the World League, World Championship 2002 and 2001 Amerrican Cup and Fernando Romano, who as referee secretary at the FMV summon me as international referee at the FeVA.

-What are your next goals?
- To have direct goals is very hard but when participating at each competition is a goal to be fulfilled, each one has its own shape and my dream is to reach as any international referee to the Olympic Games.
