Argentine blocking over the German Kozuch

Montichiari, Italy, August 3, 2013 – After 2 hours 30 minutes, Argentina defeated Germany opening match of the second day of of Italian phase of the FIVB World Grand Prix 2013 after the series stood 1-2 lead by the German team. Top scorers were Maren Brinker for Germany with 21 rallies while Emilce Sosa scored 18 for Argentina.

Germany approches the court with stress, and Argentina thanks to a good block and dig phase piles on the points for all the first set. Guidetti’s side masks mistakes with good services. German wing, Brinker Maren, has a positive phase with 5 services (2 aces and 2 Argentina’s mistakes) driving her teammate at 20-16. Immediately appears the reaction of Orduna’s team thanks to the setter, Castiglione, that put in evidence the inefficacy of German digging. Argentina takes full advantage of the set and closes the first set at 25-23.

The European girls find concentration and game rhythm, but offensive phase is still weak. Captain Kozuch, with an excellent float service drags Argentina’s digging in deep difficulty and unables the South American team to organize any kind of counterattack. Guidetti’s side conquers the second set at 25-13.

Floating service looks like German winning-solution: third set is conquered by Germany with a gap of 7 points (25-18).

Fourth set starts with a good reaction of Argentina while Germany seems too weak in its condition. Argentina opened 10-7 lead and Germany lose the possibility to find a solution for the set, dominated by Argentina (25-21).
