Vaca and Franetovich are part of the U 23 Roster

Mexico City, Mexico, August 17, 2013 - The 8th Seniors' Men Pan-American Volleyball Cup was officially announced on Wednesday at the Mexican Olympic Committee Museum. Argentina U 23 Men's Team will represent the country winning international experience facing other six countries from America on their preparation for the new U 23 World Championship that will take place next October in Brazil.

The seven nation tournament will be played from August 17th thru the 25th at the “Juan de la Barrera” Gymnasium and according to the local organising committee will be part of the celebration of the Mexico 1968 Olympic Games 45th anniversary.

Argentina, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago and The United States of America are expected to participate at this event that grants a ticket to the World League to the winner.

Argentina, Brazil and Puerto Rico will compete in Pool A, while Mexico, USA, Dominican Republic as well as Trinidad and Tobago will be part of Pool B.

The highest ranked participating National Team in the final results of the competition, not already qualified to the FIVB World League 2014, will qualify to the FIVB World League Qualification Tournament Challenge Event.

The announcement was made by the Mexican Volleyball Federation along with the Mexican Olympic Committee, the National Sports and Physical Culture Commission, Mexico City’s Sports Institute and the Benito Juarez Delegation authorities.

On behalf of Mexican Volleyball Federation, the Secretary General Rafael Anaya attended to the conference as well as the Mexican Olympic Committee President, Carlos Padilla Becerra; the General Director of Mexico City Sports Institute, Horacio de la Vega, and the Benito Juarez’s Delegation Sports Director, Ruben Aguirre.

The Opening Ceremony will take place on August 17th at 7:00 PM. After that, Mexico will face Trinidad and Tobago at 8:00 PM. The local organising committee also stated that tickets will be on sale at the “Juan de la Barrera” Gym Box Office with a 100 pesos (approximately 8.50 US Dollars).

Both best teams of the pools will qualify directly for semi-finals while seconds and thirds will cross each other for the other two semi-final berths.

The Argentine team is coached by Alejandro Grossi and includes the following players, mostly including the ones that obtained the historical Bronze Medal at the Juniors' World Championship Brazil 2011:

On Monday Argentina will have free date while Brazil will face Puerto Rico. The light blue - white jersey team will have its first match on Tuesday, August 20th v Puerto Rico at 16.00 local titme while on Wednesday, they will play the "classical" South American match v Brazil also at 16.00 local time.
