The Argentine Senior' played a tie breaker against Poland

Wuhan, China, August 18, 2013- Poland won the first match in the World Grand Prix 2013 over Argentina (Wuhan) with a 3-2 intensive match (25-21, 21-25, 25-12, 23-25, 15-11). Lucia Fresco finished as the top scorer of the match with 18 rallies. On the other side of the net was the top scorer in the history of the FIVB Grand Prix: Katarzyna Skowronska-Dolata, that on the first weekend scored 41 rallies v Russia but on this match only 16 rallies.

With this result, Argentina finished this year's edition with 5 points and a total record of 2-7 with two victories over Germany and Kazajistan on the first weekend - 4 points - and one won today at the tie-break v Poland. In the year 2011 they finished with 4 points with two victories over Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Now the team must go on working for their main goal f this 2013 international season, the qualification for the 2014 World Championship.

The first bet starts with Argentina’s unforced errors while it ties Poland at 3-3. Lucia Fresco’s strong spike once again ties Poland at 5-5. Argentina led by three points at 8-5 at the first technical timeout. Lucia Fresco’s direct kill tie at the match at 15-15. After the second technical timeout, Katarzyana’s immediately strong smash made Poland lead at23-17. Finally Poland won the first bet at 25-21.

The fourth set started with Argentina leading by four points at 5-1 over Poland and lasted at 14-10 before the second technical timeout. After the second technical timeout, Argentina won at 25-23.

The fifth set started with tie of 2-2. With their strong skills of blocks and spikes with persistent characters, Poland won the fifth bet at 15-11.

Argentina's coach Orduna Guillermo: "We should congratulate the team of Poland. Meanwhile, I am proud of the Argentina team. Today the referee made some wrong judgements and we hope we can make better."

Poland's coach Piotr Makowski: "We want to congratulate our team. This is the last match and our second win this year. We had little time to prepare, and we have to prepare well for European Championship."
