Argentina celebrating the first match victory

Ica, Peru, September 18, 2013 - In its debut the Argentine Seniors' Women Team recovered twice to start celebrating its first match over Colombia with a final tie-breaker: 19-25, 31-29, 11-25, 25-12, 15-11). The competition gives the winner a direct ticket for the Italian World Championship 2014. The team coached by Guillermo Orduna will face this Thursday, Venezuela at 17.00 Argentine time.

A long battle with ups and downs for both teams put the Colombian Madelayne Montaño as the top scorer with 35 rallies while for the winner, Sol Piccolo scored 19.

With the best players Colombia got a first and third sets wide advantage but the Argentine girls recovered concentrating and showing their best output to win the second set by the shortest advantage 31-29 and then the fourth and fifth to finish winning their first match in a round robin - all against all six teams competition.

Emilce Sosa, Argentine captain prized the victory mentioning: "When we were losing we had enough strength to come back and recover solving several problems" while for the Colombian Paola Ampudia "our reception was not good, Argentina made good use of it and we could not stop their confidence at the end. We have to work on those facts prior to our next matches".
