Ica, Peru, September 22, 2013 - In the last day of the 30th South American Seniors' Women Championship this Sunday afternoon in the city of Ica, the Argentine Seniors overcame Chile 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-22) obtaining its third consecutive Silver Medal. Now, the team coached by Guillermo Orduna looks forward to the World Championship Qualy that will take place next October in San Juan province, Argentina among the teams that finished second - fifth in Peru's competition.

The young spikers Eliana Rodriguez and Catalina Melo from Argentina and Chile, respectively, shared the top scoring 13 rallies each.

Argentina played knowing they had obtained the silver medal and therefore kept adjusting its game with several changes done by the coach Guillermo Orduna, that made a combination of young and some very experienced players to give all the chance to improve their international experience.

The Chilean team, coached by another Argentine coach, Hugo Jauregui could do little against the power of the light blue - white jersey team, mainly with spiking as its best weapon.

After the match Orduna pointed out: "To be at the Podium of the South American Championship is great and all the competition was very positive for our team. We mixed very experienced players with some very young and all could play. This competition is one more preparation for our team for the Qualy, our next and very important goal. Argentina has not participated in a World Championship for the last 12 years (2002) aand now we hope to participate of the 2014 edition".

For Lucia Gaido - Argentine Libero: "The participation of Argentina along the competition was very positive. We did not train a lot and even then we obtained very positive results playing against very strong teams. This Silver Medal gives us extra confidence for the next competition. This is not our regular starting line-up and even so we could finish on the second place".
