Moron, Argentina, September 29, 2013 - The U 23 Argentine Team overcame Russia in an exciting tie-breaker 21-19, 15-25, 21-12, 16-21, 15-11 in the first friendly four-team competition held in the country prior to the U 23 World Championship that will take place in Uberlandia, Brazil. The top scorer was Pablo Kukartsev, whose parents are Russian with 22 rallies.

Argentina therefore won the "City of Moron" Cup. Now the four teams (including Iran and Australia) will play at the historical Hector Etchart de Ferrocarril Oeste the second friendly tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday, prior to travelling to Brazil.

The first set was fought point-by-point following the new formula set out by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB). The sets were played to the best of 21 rallies with at least a two point difference with an only one technical time-out per set - on rally 12).

With the great work of the opposite Glivenko Russia won the second set with good serves and spiking to put the series 1-1. Argentina recovered with good spiking of Pablo Kukarstev on the third set well sparred by Leonardo Plaza Gandini, who replaced Juan Finoli, winning the set. At the fourth set, once more Russia won forcing a tie-breaker where Argentina showed its best output spiking and serving.
