U 23 MEN WORLD CHAMP.: ARGENTINA TRAVELLED TO BRAZIL

er 4, 2013 - While the Argentine U 23 Women Team will make its debut in their World Championship tomorrow Saturday, the Argentine U 23 Men Team left this Friday Argentina towards Uberlandia, Brazil, where they will compete in their first ever U 23 World Championship that starts next Sunday and will last until October.

The team coached by Alejandro Grossi travelled very motivated after playing two friendly international competitions in Moron and Buenos Aires, Argentina playing v Russia, Australia and Iran and winning one gold and one bronze medals. Many of Argentine players participated of the 2011 Juniors' World Championship in Brazil, with the light blue - white team playing the final match and winning the Silver Medal.

Twelve teams will participate of this first U 23 international competition. On one side Argentina will face in Pool A Tunisia, Egypt, Dominican Republic, Bulgaria and Brazil while in Pool B, Venezuela, Serbia, Russia, Mexico, Iran and Australia will fight for the title. The best two teams of round one will qualify for semi-finals.

Russia also has the chance of completing the third world championships title of the year in the first season where the U 23 adds to the Juniors' and Youth's World Championships (Turkey and Mexico, respectively).

Argentina arrives to this important challenge with a generation that obtained for first time and historical final world championship place and the Silver Medal obtained at the Youth's Olympic Games (also in its first edition).

2011 Juniors' World Championship players: Leonardo Plaza Gandini, Gustavo Vaca Alvarez, Bruno Vinti, Federico Franetovich, Juan Finoli, Agustín Ramonda, Nicolas Mendez and Tomás Ruiz.

Youth's Olympic Games players: Leonardo Plaza Gandini, Tomas Ruiz, Ezequiel Palacios ana Nicolás Mendez.
