San Juan, Argentina, October 18, 2013. A huge step for the Argentine Seniors' in their debut at the South American Championship Qualy in the city of San Juan this Saturday when they defeated Colombia - that yesterday defeated Peru 3-2 - by 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-6). The Colombian Madeylane Montano topped the score with 14 rallies for Colombia while Argentina had great stars as the Captain Yamila Nizetich and Emilse Sosa scoring 12 rallies each.Therefore now Argentina leads the competition with 3 points followed by Colombia with 2 and Peru with 1.

Tomorrow Sunday at 21.00 Argentine hour, the third and last match (also broacast live by TyC Sports from Argentina. The winner of the competition will obtain the ticket for Italy 2014.

Colombia started leading in the first set 3-5 but Argentina very quickly recovered and equal the score 7-7. Then they kept leading while Colombia from behind did their utmost and 11-7 became at the second TTO 16-14. The set got equal 17-17 but Argentina fought to recover their concentration to win this et.

Thereafter Argentina got confidence and the girls coached by Guillermo Orduna advanced very quickly to 6-1 in the second set to reach the first TTO 8-3. Colombia could not find totally the right play but got to a three point differnce in the second set to put the score 13-10. With the pressure of the whole Argentine team they won also this set.

The third set was a different story. The Argentine team obtained a great lead to leave the World Championship alive. The same will be decided tomorrow Sunday with the match of the host country v Peru.

Yael Castiglione: “We played a great match doing what we know best, to play very well. Now we have to show the same level v Peru as it will be the definitive match for the ticket to Italy 2014”
Madelaynne Montaño (Colombia): “We could not maintain our rhythm of yesterday's match. We felt very tired after the five set match v Peru. We fought at the beginning but then we could not maintain our rhythm”.
