Goal fulfilled for the Argentine Seniors'

San Juan, Argentina, October 20, 2013 - The Argentine Seniors' Women team qualified for the Italy World Championship 2014 after defeating Peru 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-9) with the coach of Peru withdrawing his team of the field in the third set, the Peruvian Team was considered absent and therefore the official end result was 3-0 (25-0, 25-0, 25-0). Up to the absence of the Peruvian team, Lucia Fresco of the winner side was the top scorer with 16 points. Argentina will represent South America together with Brazil in Italy.

The host team of Argentina started with great spikes of Nizetich and Fresco while Peru could not perform to their level reaching the 1st. TTO 8-4. Peru changed their setter with the inclusion of La Rosa replacing Muñoz and at the score 11-7 the coach Sung Jin Hong requested his first TO. The Argentine leadership reached 16-10 on the 2nd. TTO and with a great Nizetich as wing spiker Argentina got a wider difference to 19-12. With the set controlled by Argentina, while the host team tried to change their game, Peru got nearer to 23-19 but with five points of Fresco and Nizetich, Argentina celebrated the first set victory.

The second set started equal but Argentina got a good leadership 8-5 at the first TOO with good performance in blocking. The same advantage went on lto 14-11 with several non-forced errors of the Peruvian girls and with a yellow card the score arrived to 17-12. Con Sosa great performance as middle player and a good setting of Castiglione, the host team on the hands of Fresco arrived to a 22-15 lead (7 points in this set) reaching the first set ball 24-19. Argentina was just one point of getting the World ticket, obtained by Yamila Nizetich.

Argentina, already qualified for the World Championship 2014, steeped onto the field with Rizzo as wing spiker and Peru improved its performance. Soon enough the score 9-8 became 13-9 and after a point of Castiglione in second touch, the Korean coach, Sung Jin Hong decided to withdraw his team disagreeing with the arbitration and then Peru lost the set 25-9. Therefore Argentina finished the match winning 3-0 and closed their qualification without any doubts, while Peru was declared "absent" team and the ruling for such case was used.

Colombia finished second and Peru third.
