FIVB GRAND SLAM XIAMEN: ARGENTINA FINISHED 17TH

The Argentine pair winning experience among the best teams of the World

Xiamen, China, October 25, 2013 - Another good result for Ana Gallay and Georgina Klug in their growing along the year at international level playing against the best beach volleyball teams of the World. This time at the final FIVB Grand Slam of the World Tour of the year 2013, where the Argentine girls qualified first directly for the Main Draw and then to the First Round finishing with an outstanding match on the 17th place.

At the closing match of the Preliminary Round in Pool A they were overcome by the host team and favourite pair of this event, the China Xue Chen and Xia Xinyi 0-2 (16-21, 13-21). Nevertheless with the victory of the first match over the Russian Motrich-Rudykh, they qualified as third pair for the First Round.

After the raffle, Gallay-Klug faced one of the second ranked teams. They faced the three Olympic Champion Kerri Walsh and her new playing mate April Ross, that arrived to this competition winning the Gold Medal at the prior stop in San Pablo, Brazil.

At their first round match the Argentine pair enjoyed an outstanding match that nearly surprised everyone at the competition as the match was decided in a terrific tie-breaker won by the USA girls. The final result was 1-2 (11-21, 21-16, 15-17).

Gallay and Klug closed their first year playing together with a new 17th place confirming their growth in an international season where they played among the best teams of the beach volleyball of the world.
