Baracetti together with Verasio and Hiruela, the Argentine team in Uruguay

Montevideo, Uruguay, December 9, 2013 - The city of Montevideo was the venue chosen for a new stop on the Qualy for South American pairs for the Youth's Olympic Games 2014 that will take place in Nanjing, China. The second stop of the Continental Tour towards the world competition was carried out at Arenas del Plata Stadium with Argentina obtaining the fourth ranked place for its boys' pair while it improved the first stop for the girls' one.

Argentina started the qualy with a seventh place in Paraguay but this time Irene Verasio and Camila Hiruela obtained three victories to finish on the fifth place.

The Argentine pair celebrated 2-1 (21-15, 17-21, 15-8) over the Peruvian Mogollon-Robles and 2-0 over Guzman-Villarroel from Bolivia (21-10, 21-5) and over Uruguay (21-16, 21-11). The host team finished fourth but on their path they were defeated by Argentina.

On the boys side, Joel Leon and Exequiel Yacob finished as in Paraguay among the best four teams but did not win the Silver Medal won by Aveiro-Ausili in the first stop. They defeated Peru (Vasquez-Bramont), Bolivia (Muriel-Jaidin), Uruguay (Cairus-Vieyto) and Paraguay (Bogarin-Frutos) qualifying for semi-finals when they were overcome by the Venezuelan Hernandez-Gomez. In the last match for the Bronze Medal Uruguay obtained the revenge match of the preliminary round by 0-2 (19-21, 20-22) in a very tied and thrilling match.

The goal of Argentine staff were fulfilled. "We will participate looking forward to keep growing and developing our boys. We are working hard knowing that the boys can not learn and perform well in a few days. Now we have all summer to keep growing as the third stop will be in April" said the historical Mariano Baracetti, part of the Argentine beach volleyball training team.

The third stop as per the South American Confederation will be in Bolivia and then will come Vargas in Venezuela.
