A2 2013/2014: ARGENTINA 3 - MADRYNENSE 1

Sferrayo and Martinez headed the offensive work of the Youth's

Buenos Aires, Argentina, January 11, 2014 - The eight consecutive participation of the Argentine National Youth's Boys at the ACLAV Seniors' A2 upgrading League, organized by the ACLAV started with a celebration. At Carl Diem Gym at Cenard facilities, where the Youth's train and play as host team, they overcame Escuela Madrylense in their first weekend of competition, looking forward to winning experience and growing towards their yearly international calendar. The top scorer was Jan Martinez with the match ending 3-1 (25-14, 15-25, 25-19 and 25-14).

The first set showed two very equal teams but Argentina trusted Martinez to obtain the first lead on the first TTO (8-7). The same player with outstanding serving helped by Felipe Benavidez obtained a wider lead 11-7. Madrynense could not fight back and therefore the local team obtained a 9 point difference 18-9 before closing it 25-14.

On the second set Madryn found that their best weapon, blocking held to get the lead but with a good performance of Liam Arreche the host team once more got the lead 9-6 but then lost confidence and started making non-force errors. Facundo Lamas and Sergio Corso on the visiting team reached the second TTO 12-16 and the Argentine Youth's could not fight back even though they showed improvement the difference was too big and the set equalled the series 1-1.

The third set started the same way, with mistakes on the locals while Madrynense got the lead 5-7. There after with three spikes and two aces Argentina found the lead 12-9. From the bench Santiago Sauro showed great output and the 2nd TTO 16-12 became very soon 25-19 to put the series 2-1 for the local team.

With confidence on one side of the net and non-forced errors on the others the match ended very soon with a 25-14 to give the light blue - white jersey team their first match victory and celebration against a seniors' team that looks forward to upgrade on this competition.
