A2 2013/2014: ARGENTINA YOUTH'S 3 - RIVER 1

Another great performance of Msrtinez in Argentina' victory

Buenos Aires, Argentina, January 17, 2013 - Great experience for the Argentine Youth's Boys team in their 8th consecutive participation at the ACLAV Seniors' A2 upgrading League on their path towards growing. The young boys on the first match of the second weekend obtained a new victory this Friday night v River Plate by 3-1 (25-20, 27-25, 13-25, 25-23). Jan Martinez and Felipe Benavidez topped the youth's scoring 20 and 18 points respectively. This Saturday also at 18.00 at Cenard facilities they will complete their weekend participation v Club de Amigos.

Two matches two victories for the team coached by Julian Alvarez. An outstanding balance as the Youth's are facing Seniors' Team that look forward to next year's participation at the most important competition for men teams in the country, the A1 League.

River started without concentration making one non-forced error after the next. The Youth's got the lead 8-5, then 10-6 but then Fernando Arpajou held the visiting team helped by Duvinsky to level at 14-14. Thereafter the first set was a one-to-one point fight but Sferrayo got the chance with a blocking and an ace to get the lead again 19-16 with Benavidez closing the set.

Argentina was not so concentrated on the second set and River got the lead with Nicolas Gomez and Fabian Flores (5-8, 7-20) but Martinez put his team on his shoulders to reach soon 12-13 score. Flores scoring a total of 6 points in the set kept fighting for Rivar and the score 14-º7, 18-21 at the decisive and exciting end after showing 24-23 ended with Sferrayo blocking 27-25.

On the third set it was all for River with the Youth's not finding a break. Gomez got 2-5 and Flores and Glellel helped to obtain very soon 4-10, 6-14. It was no doubt, another match. River did not make any non-forced errors but the Youth's did to finish with the first set victory for the visiting team 13-25.

With Martinez coming from the bench, the Youth's got onto the field to close the match. Martinez with three consecutive aces gave the lead to the local team 4-0 and Sergio Soria performance widen the lead 7-2. Martinez scored his fourth ace but River coming from behind put the set 17-15 after being 14-7. With the set equalled at 21-21 it was stopped to dry the floor. Dubinsky gave River an important point 21-22 but Benavidez great performance at the end closed the set and the match helped with a mistake of River.
