Julio Velasco answering journalists' questions

Mendoza, Argentina, May 23, 2014 - As programmed this Friday noon took place the official launching of the first weekend of the Intercontinental Round of the FIVB World League 2014 in the city of Mendoza where Argentina will face France this Saturday and Sunday at the "Torito" Rodríguez Sport Centre in the city of Mendoza with the debut of Julio Velasco coaching the light blue - white team in an official FIVB competition.

At the presentation were as part of the authorities the Mendoza Sport Cabinet Minister, Marcelo Locamuz; the Argentine Coach, Julio Velasco and the Captain of the national team, Javier Filardi.

"For Mendoza it is a great pride to be part once more in what we believe was one of the most important events of last year repeating the venue of San Martin that has so many important facilities that cover all international delegation's needs. Also the arrival of Julio Velasco, that does not only have a great importance for Argentine Volleyball but for all sports, is a fact that makes us even more happier. We welcome the Argentine Seniors, their Coaching Team and their players in the name of their captain, Javier Filardi" started saying the Sport Cabinet Minister, Marcelo Locamuz.

Then, Julio Velasco showed his debut happiness: "I am very excited with the official debut. The team is very good in Mendoza, a province I love where I have many Friends and that I thank for all their work towards having a great event as this one is. The team is ready and will look forward to growing along the FIVB World League in this first step towards the path that will take us to the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games 2016".

Meanwhile the Captain Javier Filardi added: "the team is all right, working very hard and motivated with the arrival of such expertize coach that gave us 4 or 5 very important hints on what we need to do right to keep improving and grow. It will be very important to start right in Mendoza. I want to thank all the local people and I hope the Stadium stands full so that we can have a great party".

In front of an important number of eager journalists the matches of this Saturday at 21.30 and Sunday at 22.00 were presented in what will be the second consecutive edition of the FIVB World League in Mendoza with Brazil being the rival on the first and France on this one.

Argentina will play as host team during the first three weekends of the Intercontinental Round facing first France, then Germany to end facing Japan while as away team it will play first v Japan, then v Germany to end the Round v France.

In the evening took place the General Technical Meeting with both teams confirming the 12 players on their rosters. They are:
