Velasco, Abud and Filardi at the Official Press Conference

Salta, Argentina, May 29, 2014 - Expectation grows along the hours pass by and the 2nd weekend of the Intercontinental Round of the FIVB World League 2014 gets nearer with Argentina facing Germany in the city of Salta, in the north of the country surrounded by an outstanding view scenery. This Thursday, with both teams already hosted in the venue, took place the official launching Press Conference with the presence of an eager Media.

At the Press Conference were present the Argentine Seniors' Captain, Javier Filardi; the Head Coach, Julio Velasco and the Salta Sport Secretary, Federico Abud. All three gave their thoughts and answered the questions requested by the journalists at the Hotel Alejandro I Hall, where both teams are hosted.

"We are very happy to host the Argentine Seniors' and see them play once more in Salta" underlined Abud, completing: "They are the mirror for our Sport and we have the dream, that in the future some Salta athletes can be part of the most important Argentine National Team". Reconfirming the Salta welcome, the Sport Secretary headed towards the light blue - white players his words: "This is your home".

Filardi, the Captain of the Argentine Team that already carried out several training sessions at Delmi Stadium, the playing venue expressed his confidence in the growth and development that the teams is searching at. "We have the goal to improve our playing and performance against France (on the first weekend in San Martin, Mendoza) and we expect at the same time to play even better against Japan next weekend. We look forward, in each match to keep growing as a team".

Julio Velasco also headed his words towards the Media and after mentioning the beauty of the scenery that surrounds them, the Argentine Coach spoke about the goal of the team even on the long run: "To improve takes its time, not just a couple of weeks or international matches. When a player knows how to play, it is very hard to make him change and work towards other goals. At this point I am requesting each player to improve in one output. If the seven players that stand on the field do it we will have improved on seven facts, which is a lot for a team. We head towards that goal at this point".

With relation to the Saturday and Sunday matches, to be played at 20.00 on Saturday and at 22.00 on Sunday evening respectively, both teams show changes with reference to the first weekend of this competition. In Argentina, Pablo Bengolea and Alejandro Toro will replace Jose Luis Gonzalez (rest) and Lucas Ocampo (personal matters) while for Germany, its Captain Denys Kaliberda, Marvin Prolingheuer and Jaromir Zachrich replace Jochen Schöps, Ferdinand Tille and Tim Broshog.
