Gonzalez, Tammaro and Velasco at the Press Conference

Lomas de Zamora, Argentina, May 5, 2014 - Today at noon took place the official Press Conference corresponding to the third weekend of the Preliminary Round of the FIVB World League, the last one where the Argentine Seniors' host matches at home. The team coached by Julio Velasco will face Japan at the state-of-the-arts new Stadium of Lomas, nearby Buenos Aires city this Friday and Sunday, respectively.

At the event among other authorities were present Lomas de Zamora Sport Secretary, Horacio Tammaro; the head coach Velasco and the setter, Demian Gonzalez, named captain for both matches that will take place at 20.00 live broadcast for the whole country by TyC Sports.

"It is an honour to host this international event and welcome the Argentine Seniors' Team" started saying Tammaro representing the local officials to greet afterwards personally each and every member of the Argentine Team. "We are very happy and grateful to host the FIVB World League and we hope to show a great organization" he added.

Demian Gonzalez, that for four consecutive years won the Argentine League and just a few weeks ago the Bronze Medal at the FIVB World Clubs Championship underlined the good feelings he has being a member of the Argentine Seniors. "It is a great pride to wear once more this Argentine Jersey. We hope to play well but we must keep working a lot. That is the only way we can grow" he expressed.

When asked about his new role as Captain of the light blue - white team (he is UPCN Captain) Gonzalez smiled. "I found out I would be the captain today. I am very happy but I believe that each player has the same responsibility just representing the country".

Finally, it was the time to hear Velasco. "I want to thank the organization of Lomas to carry out this important event. Argentina needs Gyms like this one. We hope that to see the Argentine Team we can count with the same support of volleyball fans the stadium hosted at the final matches of the Argentine National League". "Argentina needs rivals like Japan that have an outstanding performance. The reason for our existence is to represent its people, its country" he finished saying.

With reference to the matches themselves, the coach explained: "We expect to show good level and play good matches against a team like Japan. They will be great matches to be watched. For this new weekend we have made some changes in the team, with the goal of watching other players. I want to see them all playing and afterwards make a balance for what comes next".

The Argentine Seniors trained for first time during the morning at Lomas Stadium for nearly two hours and then welcomed the Media and had the Press Conference.

The statistics with Japan with reference to the FIVB World League shows Argentina winning the four matches played between both teams.
