Boscacci and Sosa try to block the top scorer of the match, Cruz

Pachuca, Mexico, June 12, 2014 - In the debut of the Argentine Seniors' "Las Panteras" at the 13th Pan-American Women Cup in Pool B, Argentina overcame Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-14, 25-22, 28-26) at Carlos Martínez Balmari Sport Center. The light blue - white girls started with the right foot towards their qualification (it would be the fifth consecutive one) for the World Grand Prix 2015, the premier FIVB annual competition for National Women Teams.

Emilce Sosa and the Argentine Captain Yamila Nizetich topped the score for the victory with 10 rallies each while Aurea Cruz topped the score of the match with 16 rallies. Puerto Rico headed blocking 11-4 and also spiking but it was not enough to defeat Argentina.

Cruz was not very happy even topping the score and she mentioned "we made too many mistakes and therefore we could not win".

Guillermo Orduna, the coach of Argentine expressed: "It was a very important much because it was our first one and facing a very strong team with an important history. It was a hard rival and we prepared ourselves to face them. My players did in the field the right output as planned".

Nizetich meanwhile added: "I think we did two first very good sets with lots of spikes but on the third one we could not keep the concentration but at the end we could overcome our thoughts and win the match".

Jose Mieles, Puerto Rico coach made his balance. "We tried to win this match but we made too many non-forced errors (26 v 21) and that meant losing the first two sets, on the third one we played better but we could not close it. I congratulate our rivals, they came with more preparation than my girls".
