Once more Cruz was unstoppable

Mexico DF, Mexico, June 19, 2014 - In a terrific match, very fought and exciting Argentina was overcome by Puerto Rico (2-3 (26-24, 15-25, 26-24, 15-25, 14-16) finishing on the fourth place at the 13th Women's Pan-American Cup but it closes an outstanding competition with its qualification for the Grand Prix 2015 for fifth consecutive year and as best South American Team.

The match had an outstanding top scorer, winner of the Bronze Medal for Puerto Rico, Aurea Cruz, that scored 30 rallies with clue balls at the tie-breaker. In that short set, Puerto Rico got a great start lead 8-3 but Argentina left the set 14-13. Puerto Rico doing its utmost closed the set and won the Bronze Medal.

Puerto Rico had Alexandra Oquendo scoring 17 rallies including 5 blocking - both teams scored 17 points each blocking showing the great fight and equality of the match. On the side of Argentina, Josefina Fernandez obtained also 17 rallies, while Emilce Sosa scored 16 and Florencia Busquets 12.

Added to the fact that Argentina qualified again for the World Grand Prix of next year, the premier competition for Women's National Teams of the World, the coaching team gave chance to win international experience and grow to some very talented players, Sol Piccolo and Elina Rodriguez. Both players on this last match showed their utmost, the first one as starting line-up player and the second one as substitute player first and then as starting line-up on the third set.
