Argentina needs one more victory to qualify for next years' World Championship

Paipa, Colombia, September 12, 2014 - This Thurday evening Argentina overcame the host team of Colombia at the Youth's Boys South American Championship 3-0 (25-19, 29-27, 25-14) and this Friday will face Chile at 19.00 Argentine time in what could be the qualy for next year's World Championship with the light blue - white team defeating their neighbours.

Argentina starting line-up included: Roberts, Sferrayo, Soria, Arreche, Martinez, Benavidez and Michelon. The most parity by both teams was seen at the second set that could have been won by either team. For the team coached by Julio Gimenez this victory after the tie-breaker defeat v Brazil was very important.

"For us all rivals are very hard and we needed this victory" added the team's captain, Felipe Benavidez, adding: "We could solve the second set steeping onto the third one with confidence and everything went on as planned".

Daniel Moine, Argentine coach in charge of Colombia's team expressed: "We knew we faced a strong rival. At sometime we could fight but we made too many unforzed errors and we have to recognize they played better".

This competition gives three berths for the World Championship 2015 and until now Brazil won their two matches - v Argentina and Chile while Argentina and Chile stand with a record of 1-1 win-loss. This Friday the first two qualified teams will be settled - the two top teams while the third one will come be the Bronze Medal winner on Saturday.
