U 20 FINAL FOUR GREAT MATCH ARGENTINA V PERU 2-3

Lima, Peru, October 17, 2014 - The Argentine Juniors' Women was overcome in its first match in an amazing five setter match v the host team of Peru in the first day of the U 20 Final Four competition. The team coached by Guillermo Nazabal never gave up fighting but the victory was for the home team 3-2 (26-24, 19-25, 25-19, 15-25, 15-10).

The top scorer was the captain of the home team Angela Leyva with 13 rallies followed by Maguilaura Frias and Luciana Del Valle with 12 each and Coraima Gomez with 10. On the side of Argentina, Sil Piccolo scored 19 points, Irene Verasio 14, Candelaria Herrera 12 and Camila Hiruela 11.

Marin Escudero, coach of the Peruvian Team prized the high level shown by the light blue - White team. "It was a very hard match, we knew that Argentina was a strong rival and even more now that many new comers became part of a strong group at the national team. Today they showed to be a technical team that defends itself a lot and therefore it was a hard match and very levelled".

For the Argentine coach Guillermo Nazabal the team "had lots of bad moments and Peru made good use of them. We lost the control of the match because they showed more confidence and could control it. The Peruvian Team always was ahead on the score, we could not overcome them and we had to play to their path. Peru has always been a good rival and it help us a lot preparing our girls".

Meanwhile for the Argentine Captain, Sol Piccolo "this has been a very fought match and at the end it could have been won by either team. Peru bet on spiking and with good digging while we stop doing things right and it ws not enough to win the match".
