U 14 ARGENTINE CHAMP DOUBLE GENDER GOLD MEDAL

Santa Fe won the Gold Medal without losing a single set

Santa Fe, Argentina, July 4, 2015 – This Friday ended the last Argentine National Championship 2015 dedicated to the grass-root U 14 category. The event took place in Santa Fe with both gender host teams winning historical Gold Medal. The boys defeated Mendoza while the girls celebrated over the Metropolitan (Buenos Aires city).

This competition was joint by 33 teams representing 19 provinces and including 100 matches along four very long and demanding days. In a couple of months all over will start with the Argentine Cups (U 14, U 16, U 18) where clubs will start participating in the second premier annual competition organized by the Argentine Volleyball Federation (FeVA) to promote and boost grass-root teams.

During the morning the girls’ semi-finals took place with Santa Fe overcoming in a tied match Cordoba 3-0 keeping their perfect score without losing a single set on the whole competition while Metro that also won lost their first set.

The Bronze Medal was for Cordoba that defeated Chaco 3-0. The 5th place was for Buenos Aires province defeating Entre Rios and Tucuman while the 9th was for San Juan, the 12th was won by Jujuy and the 15th for Salta.

The Bronze Medal on the boys’ side was won in a tie-breaker very exciting match by Metropolitan (Buenos Aires city) over Buenos Aires province. The semi-finals were played on Thursday evening. San Juan finished 5th over Chaco, Santiago del Estero 7th, Tucuman 9th and Misiones 13th.

In the main field of Union took place the final match between two undefeated teams but Santa Fe as host team felt more confident and after a tied first set won the second and third forcefulness (25-22, 25-14, 25-9) becoming the new champion.

The final match closing the U 14 championship was the boys’ match. Mendoza had the 2014 title and wanted to maintain it but Santa Fe also showed strength and after winning the first set 25-15 with confidence won the match 25-22 (2nd) and 25-18 (3rd).
