Toronto, Canada, July 19, 2015 - Argentine beach volleyball enjoys an historical moment as Ana Gallay-Georgina Klug in the first participation of a women's beach team at the Pan-American Games dream of a Gold Medal after defeating the Brazilian pair Carolina Horta-Liliane Maestrini 2-1 (21-17, 21-23, 15-13) in a very tied match and after coming from behind (9-12) in the tie-breaker set.

With an historical performance full of claws in digging of Georgina Klug (29) and Ana Gallay (21) Argentina overcame a very hard tie-breaker. Brazil led in blocking (0-5) while spiking was even. After each pair had won one set apiece, all the pressure was on Argentina at a tie-breaker nearly won by the rival. The final non-forced erros made the difference Ana-Georgina added 17 points from Brazil pair giving away only 7.

Historical and unforgettable step for Argentine Beach Volleyball with Gallay-Klug facing the Cuban Lianma Flores-Leila Martínez next Tuesday at 17.00 for the Gold Medal. In the preliminary round the Cuban overcame Gallay-Klug in the tie-breaker 13-15 so there is the outstanding chance of revenge and the top of the Pódium.

Ana Gallay: "This shows what we are as a team, this is our great difference. We made our utmost, showed our claws always training with the goal of winning, mainly in this competition. Our main tools are digging and attitude. It is so nice to overcome Brazil. We are very happy and I think this is the main fulfilment we obtained".

Georgina Klug: "It was an exhausting match and now we go for the Gold Medal. There is always time for a revenge. We were overcome by Cuba in the previous match only by the 2 points in the tie-breaker but we have now more energy. We will train to live our endless effort in the field as we always do. We want to thank our working and coaching team, Pablo del Coto (coach), Mariano Baracetti that are always with us and the whole team. To the ENARD, the National Sport Secretariat, the Argentine Olympic Committee and the Argentine Volleyball Federation that support us completely to fulfil our dreams".

On the Semi-Final path Gallay-Klug overcame this Satuday Kelly Larsen-Betsi Metter USA 2-0 to become one of the best four teams of the competition with a great chance of winning one Medal for Argentina while Ian Mehamed-Nicolas Capogrosso were overcome by the outstanding Esteban-Marco Grimalt of Chile finishing among the best 8 teams and fighting for the fifth place.
