ARGENTINE NATIONAL TEAMS KEEP IMPROVING AT FIVB WORLD RANKINGS

Buenos Aires, Argentina, September 26, 2015 - In a very important season for Argentine results at different competitions around the Globe, the different National teams improved their places at the International Volleyball Federation World Ranking being pointed out specially at the grass-root teams that is resulting and will go on in improving the light blue - white performances and skills in the different international competitions.

The Argentine Seniors' Men Team coached by Julio Velasco improved to the 6th place after an outstanding and historical performance at the World Cup in Japan - when it finished 5th with a record of 7-4 wins-loss and adding 190 points to their ranking. Argentina once finished also 5th at the World Cup but with a competition of 8 teams in the year 1985. This 2015 competition included 12 teams and Argentina even had chances to qualify in the first competition Qualy towards Rio Olympic Games 2016. Brazil keeps leading the ranking with 330 points. Following the conclusion of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup in Japan, the updated FIVB Men’s Senior World Ranking has been released, with Brazil, Russia and Poland still ranked as first, second and third, respectively, as per September 2015.

Las Panteras, the Argentine Seniors' Women Team now stands 12th with 8 points added at the World Cup (4 victories in 11 matches) overcoming Thailand. They stand now with 95 points as they also added 19 points at the World Grand Prix, when they finished 13th. Las Panteras wait now their South American Olympic Games Qualy that will be held in Bariloche, Argentina, next January. It could be their first participation at the Olympic Games.

The U 21 M stand 2nd improving 4 places with 116 points (Russia stands first with 130) while the U 19 B stand also 2nd with 120 points behind Poland 130 and having improved 4 places, too. On the women's the U 20 W with less international participations maintains its 22nd placE while the U 18 G stand 10th with 46 points improving 2 places.
