16TH FINAL ARGENTINA V BRAZIL AT THE MEN'S SOUTH AMERICAN CHAMP

Maceio, Brazil, October 3, 2015 - For 16th time at the Men's South American Championship, Argentina will face the host team of Brazil in the premier continental competition. Since the year 2005 both teams face each other for the Gold Medal without stop. In the semi-finals of the 31st edition of this competition held at Gimnasio Sesi in the city of Maceio first Argentina defeated with some efforts Venezuela 3-1 (25/18, 25/20, 25/16, 25/18) while Brazil had no problem in overcoming Colombia 3-0 (25/19, 25/14, 25/10).

Prior to semi-finals:

Argentina and the host team of Brazil top their Pools at the third date of the 31st Seniors Men's South American Championship that takes place at Gimnasio Sesi. At the semi-finals the light blue - white team will face Venezuela while Colombia will have the hard task of playing v Brazil.

In the last day of the preliminary round Chile, Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil won their matches. Peru started right v the Chilean team coached by Daniel Nejamkin (Argentinian) but the final victory was for Chile 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-21). The Peruvian Francis Mendoza topped the score with 22 tallies while for Chile the Opposite Sebastian Gevert scored 13.

The second match was won by Uruguay overcoming Guyana also 3-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-21). The Opposite Rodrigo Tacain topped the score with 12 tallies while for Guyana in their first Continental experience Creston Rodney scored 8.

Chile now will face Uruguay this Saturday for the fifth place while Peru and Guyana will play for the seventh.

Brazil and Argentina reach semi-finals undefeated. First Brazil overcame Venezuela quite easily 3-0 (25-16, 25-8, 25-14) while Argentina coached by Julian Alvarez won over Colombia 3-1 (25-17, 28-26, 20-25, 25-19). Argentina as leader of Pool B faces Venezuela while Colombia with this first defeat standing second in the same pool will face the host team of Brazil.
