Caracas, Venezuela, October 12, 2015 - The Argentine Seniors' Men Team coached by Julio Velasco fulfilled his first and main goal since he returned to Argentina to coach the team: Argentina will participate of the Olympic Games Rio 2016 after a very hard tie-breaker overcoming the host team of Venezuela 3-2 (25-12, 22-25, 25-12, 25-27, 15-12). Ezequiel Palacios topped the score with 18 tallies followed by Facundo Conte with 17 and Cristian Poglajen with 16 for Argentina while Rivas from Venezuela was the best scorer with 20 tallies.

At the ideal team of the Men's South American Olympic Games Qualy Palacios, Sole, De Cecco, Conte and Santucci were named.

Repeating the year 2004, Argentina qualified for an Olympic Games in Venezuela, in a terrific tie-breaker where it recovered from a fifth and last 6-8 set. With Cristian Poglajen serving, Argentina started to lead and from there won by the minimum possible difference. Argentina joins Brazil (as Organizer) Italy and USA (finalists of the FIVB World Cup 2015 among the teams already qualified for the Olympic Games.

No doubt, a very outstanding international season for the Argentine Teams. Silver Medals won by two grass-root teams at their U 19 and U 21 World Championship; qualified to participate at the Final Four of the FIVB World League Group 2; Gold Medal at the Toronto's Pan-American Games and the best ever historical campaign at the FIVB World Cup with a record of 7-4 win-loss finishing fifth (only defeated by the top four teams). The Argentine team finished with a total of 32 victories and 12 defeats in the most demanding international season in the last years.

Julio Velasco put 35 players in the field during this 2015 season and all put the utmost showing they deserved to represent the light blue - white jersey.

Venezuela will participate of the final Olympic Games Qualy with two European teams, one from Norceca and four from Asia, There, the Asian champion added to three more; Chile, that finished 3rd will also play v the 3rd of Norceca and the 2nd and 3rd of Africa.

Argentina won the first and third sets 25-12 showing their best performance, Venezuela won the second lead by Rivas serving while on the fourth, even though Argentina got the lead, once more Rivas well scored by the 14 points of Piñerua forced the tie-breaker.
