Buenos Aires, Argentina, April 29, 2016 - Julio Velasco, the coach of the Argentine Seniors' Men Team travelled this Friday to Rosario to advise personally Javier Filardi, wing spiker and last two international season's captain of the team, that he would not be included at the National Team during this 2016 season. "I went personally to advise him of the decision, as I considered that it is the right moment to give chances to new players, some very young as the captain of the team. At this point I am making a balance of the definitive complete Argentine roster. It was a very hard decision and a very emotive moment. I travelled to Rosario because there Javier is doing his knee treatment. I thanked him his quality as player and captain, his commitment and engagement with the national team" expressed Velasco on his return to Buenos Aires.

Filardi, that obtained with his team the sixth consecutive title of the Argentine Seniors' Men A1 League with his team, UPCN Voley de San Juan, was the captain of the Argentine team during the two year's cycle of Velasco work. "It was Julio's decision, he talked to me about it and I had thought about it. Physically I am not feeling well and I do not know how long it will take me to be all right again. Also my mind is not 100 per cent. It was going to be very hard on me this year. I thanked Julio on the time and confidence he gave me, the chance to stand again at volleyball highest level, to be able to fulfil my personal goal of winning something as the Pan-American Games Toronto 2015. I am more than thankful because they talked with me directly, the way they talked with me all the time. I accept the decision sharing it. I also are very thankful to the Argentine Team and I wish that the team keeps growing and that it obtains successes at the Olympic Games Rio 2016. I wish the best for the team".
