Tijuana, Mexico, May 3, 2016 – Argentine Volleyball has a new responsibility due to its management growth at international level. After last weekend Statutary Assembly of the Pan-American Volleyball Union (Union Panamericana de Voleibol) held in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, when a new President was chosen with the duty on Rafael Lloreda Currea, the South American Volleyball Confederation (CSV) President; FeVA President, Juan Antonio Gutierrez was chosen as General Secretary, a position of high responsibility for the future plans of the UPV.

"It is an important step for Argentina in the framework of the growth of the South American Confederation, as many of its authorities are now confirmed managing the UPV from its Board of Administration. The CSV together with the members of the NORCECA will try to give new impulse to America’s volleyball. For us, it is a new step for Argentina and for the growth of America” expressed the Argentine Volleyball Federation (FeVA) President, Juan Antonio Gutierrez in Mexico.

The Pan American Volleyball Union held its statutory Assembly at the Grand Hotel Tijuana after the conclusion of the Norceca Board of Administration and Executive Committee meetings.

During the assembly the Ceremony of the Union’s Presidency transition took place after Cristobal Marte Hoffiz (of Norceca) passed the torch to Rafael Lloreda Currea (of the South American Confederation-CSV).

Among the most important points of Union’s working plan there is the goal to solidify the Final Four tournaments that join the best teams of both hemispheres in the Americas.

Along with that there is the objective of keeping the impulse of the Pan American Cup, a competition that has become a flagship event in both genders.

Also the Union looks forward to build a financial structure by funding resources through the percentage received from ticket box income in volleyball matches at the Pan Am Games that will be celebrated in Lima, Peru, in 2019 as well as in the upcoming editions.

Another project that was put on the table a few years ago has been the launch of a Pan American Beach Volleyball Circuit that can feature the best tandems of all the continent in both genders.

“The Pan American Union has opened a big and very important door to all of us, and I’m sure that we can get very good things. We will work together and will need the help of all and every one of you,” said Lloreda after being acclaimed as new president in charge.

Delegates from different member countries of the Norceca and the CSV were present at the assembly.

Every four years the presidents of Norceca and CSV alternate the lead of the Union as part of the agreements reached ten years ago when this entity was born in 2006.
