Salta, Argentina, June 4, 2016 – The Brazilian Seniors’ Men Team won the Personal Cup at the friendly tour playing v Argentina at Delmi Sportcenter this Saturday in the city of Salta after Bernardinho team showing great concentration won 1-3 (26-28, 26-24, 17-25, 23-25) when they were losing the fourth and definitive set 18-12 and coming from behind put themselves 18-19. The debut player Fabian Flores was chosen the MVP.

The Cup to the captain of the winner team, Bruno Rezende (its setter) was handed out by Salta and Jujuy Governors, Manuel Urtubey and Gerardo Morales, respectively.

This was a two match friendly tour v the World Championship and Olympic Games Silver Medal, Brazil, prior to the FIVB World League (that for Argentina starts in Brazil itself) and the Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro 2016.

First friendly match in Jujuy

The Argentine Seniors' Men Team started its international very demanding season 2016 playing a friendly match in Jujuy v the strong team of Brazil, host of the Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro 2016 with the Personal Cup in stake. On Thursday night the silver medal World Championship and Olympic Games overcame in straight set the light blue - white team coached by Julio Velasco 0-3 (22-25, 20-25, 21-25). Wallace Souza topped the score with 20 tallies while for Argentina, Nicolas Bruno was the best scorer for Argentina with 12 points. This Saturday at 13.00 they will play the second match at Delmi Sport Centre in Salta live broadcast by TyC Sports.

Brazil was better in all its output with 59 per cent effectiveness spiking against 49 of Argentina. In the first match of the season Argentina could not find a good rhythm with the absence of Facundo Conte, Sebastian Sole and Pablo Crer.

These matches are part of the training for the FIVB World League 2016 first and then for the Olympic Games.

Velasco tried different player's combinations at the start of the third set giving all the chance to show their level.

"It was hard to get our rhythm in this first match of the year with some absences and with players that did not train enough yet. We must make some adjustments, mainly our reception because we are a team that usually receives well" expressed Velasco after the match.
