Rosario, Argentina, June 20, 2016 - From this Wednesday, June 22nd to Sunday, June 26th Rosario will host the Women's Continental Cup with the winner (six teams round robin playing) taking the unique berth in stake for the Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro 2016. The second and third ranked team will still have a last Qualy but all pairs dream on getting the ticket on this week's competition. The same formula will take place on the men's competition in Santiago de Chile. Argentina will be represented by two teams on each gender with the best teams of each country playing for the ticket to Rio.

Mariano Baracetti, former beach volleyball World Champion is the chief coach of the Argentine pairs and he shows his excitement and great commitment looking forward to winning the berths.

To the already qualification due to their FIVB World Ranking of Gallay-Klug, this time Virginia Zonta, Julia Benet, Julieta Puntin and Irene Verasio will be the Argentine girls and the three times Olympic player, Mariano with 42 years old is part of the coaching team together with Diego Ramirez, Andres Soriano and Gonzalo Borstelmann, among others training with younger players that chose to fight with the light blue - white jersey and while training he points out the importance of this competition, the goals and the present of the Argentine Beach volleyball.

- What do you feel prior to this important competition?

- We are very happy because one of our teams already qualified (Gallay-Klug) that are among the top teams of the FIVB World Ranking making history as it is the first time that women qualified for the Olympic Games and now, in the next days the last berth for the South American both gender teams competition could qualify two more teams in a tournament with six countries (12 pairs) qualifying only one.

- How is the competition formula of the Continental Cup?

- Each country includes two pairs of each gender and they play against the other countries pairs. In case of a tie, there will be a "Golden set" to the best of 15 points with the coach of each country deciding on the two of the four athletes representing the country as the berth is for the country and not for the players themselves. Each match gives points to the winners and to the losers and at the end of the week the points per country are added. If there is a triple tied it becomes even harder.

In both genders the level is very tied. There is not a clear winner and therefore all the teams are very excited, with good chances of playing in a great competition.

- What are the goals?

- First it is that each player shows their utmost in a very long series, playing every day. We will try that each of them gives its most possible effort and knowing we are ready if our performance is good, without worrying on the rivals but very concentrated they can obtain good results. The idea is to concentrate on our game, motivated, with positive attitude over all.

- Which are the strongest rivals?

- At the men's Chile and Venezuela are better but Argentina has defeated them. At the women's, Venezuela has competed at the international tour and therefore they have experience and a very good level. We have trained at a very high level here in Rosario and even the weather has helped us. Some of the players are coming out of a cold or flue but they will be all right by Wednesday. Sometimes one of the players is not in the match and the other helps but the rivals make good use of that and therefore I insist on their concentration as main goal. If we fulfil this, the good results will come out alone.
