Rosario, Argentina & Santiago, Chile, June 22, 2016 - After the first date in both Continental Cup the Argentine teams started with the right hand on their way to win the berth for each gender at stake for the Olympic Games Rio de Janeiro 2016.

At the women's competition in Rosario in a very sunny day with mild temperatures for the start of winter, three teams stared with victories, two of them with Gold Set. Argentina overcame Chile, Paraguay defeated Colombia and Venezuela, the last without losing any set, defeating Uruguay 4-0.

In La Florida resort in the city of Rosario matches started very early with Uruguay facing Venezuela 2 in the principal court. Gomez-Cammarano URU1 were overcome by VEN2, Brito-Agudo 1-2 (11-21, 22-20, 12-15 with both pairs showing ups and downs as it happened along the whole day with very equal teams. Venezuela opened the victory path as the sisters Olaya and Rebeca Pazo also defeated Fortunati-Nieto 2-0 (21-17, 21-14). then the sisters Pazo overcame Gomez-Cammarano.

Argentina started with the victory of Benet-Zonta ARG1 over Badal-Izquierdo CHI2 in a double 21-10 but then Rivas-Mardones CHI! defeated Puntin-Verasio ARG2 0-2 (19-21, 18-21). The victory then became the responsibility of both top country's teams.

Chile won the first set 19-21 v the local team (Rivas-Mardones v Puntin-Zonta) but the Argentine pair reacted and won the second 21-8 forcing a tie-breaker that they won 15-10. Zonta serving and Benet blocking made the great difference.

Paraguay overcame Colombia with the victory of Gabriela Filippo-Michelle Valiente winning their two matches and the Gold Set. The sisters Andrea-Claudia Galindo COL1 defeated Patricia Caballero-Erika Mongelos by a tied 2-0 (21-19, 21-18) but PAR1 tied the series over Diana-Yuli COL2 21-11, 21-12. On the definitive match Colombia got the lead with both 2 teams facing each other and the final victory was for Paraguay.

On the men's side in Santiago de Chile, the Continental Cup first date matches were won by Argentina, Chile and Venezuela at Peñalolén Beach, Uruguay faced Venezuela, Argentina v Colombia and Chile on the first participation at this stage at the French Guyana.

At the end of the day the country that wins the complete series adds 2 points while the loser, 1. During the morning Cabrera and Petenina COL1 overcame ARG2, Mehamed-Capogrosso in a tie breaker 1-2 (22-20, 17-21, 11-15).

Then ARG1, Bianchi-Azaad faced COL2, Manejares-Johan Murray with the victory of Argentina 2-0 (21-16, 21-13). Then the light blue - white 2 team was overcome by COL1 and the series finished tied. In the last match ARG1, Bianchi-Azaad faced COL1, Cabrera-Peternina with the victory of Argentina 2-0 (21-17, 21-13.
