Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 8, 2016 - Ana Gallay-Georgina Klug were overcome in their second Olympic beach volleyball match facing the host team and favourite to finish on top of the preliminary pool by 0-2 (11-21, 17-21) and this Wednesday, they will face the third and last match of this phase v the Czech pair at 22.00.

With this result, the Brazilian pair already qualified for the Round Pool after winning their two first matches while the Argentine pair must wait for the match of the Czech Slukova-Hermannova v Spain this afternoon with a chance in that case of depending on themselves at Wednesday match — a victory would put them on the third ranked place qualifying for next phase.

The first set started even with the Albicelestes concentrated and fighting every ball but the Brazilian blocking and defence could not be stopped and Barbara´s two aces put the score 4-10. Argentine recovered by a new ace of Barbara gave the host team such a big lead that could no way be reached.

In the second set, Argentina stepped onto the field very concentrated and at their level fighting point-by-point with good Gallay blocking and spiking and with Brazil pair making mistakes but their serves — as best weapon gave them a new lead and the victory with a total of 10 points obtained by their killing serves.

“Our mind was not cold enough to play against the Brazilian serves. Before they never complicated us so much and this is a real problem at this level, it should not happen” mentioned Georgina Klug with Ana Gallay adding “We stepped onto the field very concentrated up to the point their serve gave them 5 consecutive points. We recovered but we were very nervous and could not play to our utmost. It is very sad we could not play at the same level the whole match.
