GALLAY-KLUG FIGHT TO THE LAST POINT AT THE OLYMPICS RIO 2016

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, August 11, 2016 - Ana Gallay-Georgina Klug, the Argentine beach volleyball top ranked team and qualified for the Olympic Games Rio 2016 today facing the CZE Marketa Slukova-Barbora Hermannova after a very intensive tiebreaker were eliminated of the competition 1-2 (21-13, 19-21, 8-15).

Gallay-Klug stepped onto the field showing an outstanding level with their rivals making non-forced errors trying to stop the Argentine pair but on the second the parity went on until the final of the set with the Czech pair finding their utmost with Hermannova becoming strong at the net and by the minimum difference after a 19-19 score they put the series 1-1.

In the third set, the European pair started with an important leadership 3-0 to become a quick end 15-8 after Gallay asked for a doctor because she did not feel well and nearly left the match without ending it.

“We were very demanding on ourselves in this competition. With Ana we worked very hard during these last years but we never left being very young with three years experience and having good international experiences we believed we deserved a better Olympic competition, even not such an hard Pool and now we have to grow and learn from our defeats" expressed Georgina Klug after the match.

“One thing was the qualification for the competition and something completely different the Olympic Games themselves. We grew as a team and in other ways . We played international semi-finals and we expected to reach much higher at the Olympics. I feel very sad because of the results but we know we can reach much more. We will have revenge in the final competition among he best 12 beach volleyball teams of the world, and we can believe we can be among the 8 that represent what we hare. We did not have any luck in this tournament but one must learn to lose, and keep working to improve" closed saying Ana Gallay.
