Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 3, 2016 - The FIVB World Congress is the Federation's supreme governing body and is held every two years. The 2016 edition will be the 35th time the Congress convenes. This year’s edition, which will be an electoral congress with current FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° standing unopposed, will be held in the Argentinean capital of Buenos Aires, from October 4 to 6, 2016. It is not the first key FIVB event the Argentina Volleyball Federation has hosted. Back in 2002 and in 1982, it hosted the World Congress as well as the FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championships in the same year.

This Monday with all FIVB authorities already hosted at Hilton Hotel in the city of Buenos Aires, the first preliminary meetings started to take place. The event, organized by the Argentine Volleyball Federation supported by Turicentro S.A. brings to Argentina the most important administrative World wide event of the International Volleyball Federation.

Juan Antonio Gutierrez, FeVA President mentioned: FeVA is very proud of having the privilege or organizing such event. For us it is a FIVB and its president, huge proof of confidence and support. The same we add in the Management of the FIVB next 8 years Presidency of Dr. Ary S. Graça F°"

Mr. Gutierrez presented the FIVB Board of Administrative to the Congress emphasizing the background of Argentina as organizer of clue FIVB events. "This is a great chance to thank the confidence they show in us. This event is very important for our country and we hope to welcome all to the Volleyball World. I want to thank you deeply FIVB President, its Board of Administration and the whole FIVB team for their support" finished saying FeVA President.

With the FeVA, Turicentro organizes the Congress as important enterprise in charge of taking part of many high standard events. Carlos Gianni, his President, together with Martina Gianni, the Director, pointed out the background of their enterprise organizing events since the year 1978, that included among many others the 125th IOC Session Buenos Aires 2013.

Welcoming national federation delegates to the 2016 edition of the FIVB World Congress in FIVB President Dr. Ary S. Graça F° said: "The Congress is an opportunity for the global volleyball family to come together. A chance to reflect, celebrate and look ahead to the future as we continue in the pursuit of our vision to make volleyball the number one family sport entertainment in the world."

President Graça said: "After a spectacular Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, it is wonderful to be back in South America for the FIVB Congress in Buenos Aires as we mark another important milestone in this special year for volleyball.

"It is a pleasure for me to welcome the FIVB Board of Administration, the FIVB’s Commissions – including our newly formed Athletes’ Commission – and the five Continental Confederations who play such a pivotal role in helping us spread volleyball’s values around the world.

"Volleyball is unequivocally in a golden era of success. We have just witnessed the most successful Olympic Games where our sport was the signature event and we can look forward to an exciting future with the World Championships in both disciplines taking place in the next couple of years before Tokyo 2020.

"It is an honour for me to be the President of the FIVB during this momentous period in the history of our sport and I am excited for the many great moments ahead.

"Thank you for your support and I wish us all a productive and successful Congress!"

The 2016 edition of the FIVB World Congress will take place at the Hilton Buenos Aires from October 4 to 6 with workshops for national federations in categories 1 and 2 taking place on October 4.
