English Español

Buenos Aires, Argentina, April 11, 2017 - The Youth's Olympic Games Buenos Aires 2018 are the great challenge of Argentine Beach Volleyball. To attract, develop and consolidate beach volleyball teams for the only representation that the Argentine Volleyball Federation (FeVA) will have in the premier Sport world competition is a priority target at the present time, including a hard working program with campus, training, tours, concentrations and consolidating Ian Mehamed (several times Champion at the Argentine Beach Volleyball Tour, former Argentine National Team player and at the present young coach being only 27 years old) that replaced Mariano Baracetti, who moved to Qatar, coaching the Project.

Mehamed, from Mar del Plata, points out: "I was very lucky to have Baracetti as partner mate and also as coach and at the end, working together coaching and I was blessed with all his knowledge. The calmness and clarity that he passed down is to imitate and copy. I learnt that as player and I hope to be able to pass it as coach".

Buenos Aires 2018 is a goal: "To be heading the Project feels me with pride, I am a priviledged person to be able to work in something I like so much, having lived so much on the other side of such plan. It is not a routine nor a repetive job, we have always different competitions that will end at the Youth's Olympic Games, and that is a unique experience. I am very motivated. It is also FeVA and ENARD confidence in my person and my job. I am building my coaching career since a few yearss ago and the fact that I was chosen for this job makes me feel I am in the right path. I have many years in front of me to improve and learn as coach and this experience it is going to be very important in my career".

The Project YOG Buenos Aires 2018 stands in its 4th phase. Already took place evaluating children from all over the country. The 4th phase includes more competitions and more concentrations. Some team have already competed at the Seniors' South American Tour stops, at the Argentine Tour stops, etc. and now they will compete at the Youth South American Tour stops and at the World Championship China. "Time as arrived to work with the National pairs to add experiences that can be very useful for YOG Buenos Aires 2018 and their future careers. This is outstanding" mentions with excitement Mehamed.

With reference to the future of the players included in the program, the Argentine coach emphasizes "it is very hard to put them into different types of level at this age, because they improve a lot in a very short time. We are working with 8 boys and 8 girls and all play very well, all train very hard and maybe some of them can stand out a little over others now but it is not easy to know who will have better performance in the future. It seems all will have an outstanding one".
