One month before the start of the FIVB World League 3rd weekend to be held in Cordoba, the official presentation took place this wednesday in “Espacio La Voz del interior”, in Cordoba city. From 16 to 18th June, the team coached by Julio Velasco will host 2016 FIVB World League Champions Serbia, Rio 2016 Olympic Champions Brasil and always-challenging Bulgaria in the most important event for Argentina before the 2018 FIVB World Championship.

Argentina’s return to FIVB World League Group 1 in 2016, set the importance of the event, as it will play again in local soil after a 1-year absence. The Orfeo Superdomo Arena, the most modern and equipped stadium in the country, will host the event to fulfill FIVB requirements.

The official presentation featured the presence of Agencia Cordoba Deportes President Medardo Ligorria, FeVA President Juan Antonio Gutierrez, Cordoba Volleyball Federation President Eduardo Fernandez and 2004 Olympic opposite Santiago Darraidou, as local and national media had the chance to acknowledge the details of a world-class event that will include tournaments for the youth and veteran players, and will be broadcasted by TyC Sports.

Agencia Cordoba Deportes authorities as Jorge Protalongo and Horacio Garimaldi were also present at the presentation, as well as FeVA treasurer Juan Galeote, Cordoba Volleyball Federation Vicepresident Adrian Fernandez and Technical Secretary Alfrendo Contreras, and Cordoba Sports Confederation representant, Marcelo Bourjakian.

Medardo Ligorria: “There will be side activities that will provide the event of a big hierarchy. We are facing the possibility to assist a world-class event”.

Juan Antonio Gutierrez: “We are very happy to be here in Cordoba, we know how they work for this sport here; this province reunites all the characteristics for us to host again the World League. The Cordoba Federation is making a huge work”

Eduardo Fernandez: “We want this weekend to be a big party for all the people in Cordoba. We are preparing a high quality show”.

Santiago Darraidou: “All the three teams are very exigent. It will be a great sports show, we hope the people who will come to the Orfeo Superdomo to cheer us. We love to be back here in Cordoba”.

The Cordoba Volleyball Federation is also organizing an important training module for volleyball coaches, youth and veteran tournaments to live the World League experience at its best.

FeVA Council will also have its monthly meeting during the weekend. “We had a debt with Cordoba, where we haven’t played since the 2010 World League Finals. There is tradition, history and a very strong and important sports lifestyle here in Cordoba, we needed to bring our national team here” expressed FeVA President Juan Antonio Gutierrez.

Since this weekend, tickets will be available through the official Orfeo Superdomo system and in Tiendas Vesta. The prices will be as follows: $ 150 / $ 350 / $ 500 / $ 900.

Argentina National Team will travel to Naples, Italy, to participate in the “Vesubio Cup”, a triangular tournament in which Velasco’s team will face Italy and Japan in May. It will be the last preliminary instance of preparation before the World League debut against Russia. From 27 to 29th may, there will be action in Palabarbuto, in southern Italy.
