On its World League debut Argentina could't beat Russia and lost 3-0 with partials of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-19. Maxim Zhigalov was the top scorer with 18 points, while Gonzalo Quiroga scored 12 for the Argentine team. This Saturday Julio Velasco's squad will face Bulgaria at 16:10 (localtime), with live streaming at FIVB Official YouTube Channel and televised by TyC Sports in Argentina.

Russia made important differences with a more forceful task in attack at 8-4, advantage that stretched to 15-7 based on a superior game in serve and block. Later, Argentina showed better moments in attack, especially with Quiroga to narrow the distance 12-18. In the closing, Russia continued solid in attack and blocked to win it 25-17 in a good set of Egor Kliuka (6 points).

The second set had a clearly favorable start for home team, that took off 8-2 with a relentless game in attack (highlighted work of Zhigalov) and more regular than the Argentine team. Later, in a good rotation in which Cavanna contributed in defense and the National Team defined with Johansen and Poglajen, Argentina managed to discount 11-15. After that good South American moment, Russia returned to hurt with its service and widen 19-13 to ended up winning it 25-18 after a Kliuka attack.

In the third set Russia obtained an initial advantage of 6-2 with Biriukov's serve, but Argentina got into the game and counted with more appearences of Nicolas Bruno to balance the development. Nevertheless, Velasco's team couldn't discount that initial difference (9-13). This chapter stayed even until the definition zone, but in the denouement Russia again was more forceful in attack with Zhigalov and in blocking to close it 25-19.
