The Pre Junior Women's National Team stepped up in Paraguay with the consecration in the U16 South American Championship 2017 in a tournament in which it went from less to more and celebrated against Peru in the final. Back in the country, Roberto Woelflin analyzed the work of the U16 team that finished with the coronation in the continental competition.

'The work consisted first in recruiting through observations in different parts of the country and also in tournaments and Argentine championships of the category to create a group composed of players with international projection' explained Woelflin.

He added: 'The second step was to develope the technical skills taking the international volleyball as a point of reference and the third was to give the team an identity and a playing system since most of this girls will continue together until the U23 team'.

Beyond the South American title, the coach made clear that the objectives are others: 'The result is very good, but the most important thing is the development and the potential that the players have'.

Finally, Woelflin also emphasized the preparation method throughout the year of this team that even played friendly matches against teams that participated in the U18 World Championship in Santa Fe and Rosario: 'An important change was the FeVA's decision of making this group have 10 days of training every month from January in different parts of the country. This support allowed the technical development specially in players with physical conditions of international level, but who needed a different technical development, and also by having a permanent technical staff. Without that opportunity, the technical growth of the players in this group would have been much slower'.
